Alhamdulillah ("we", "our", "us") is a gratitude journaling app designed for Muslims and people of all backgrounds. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

• Profile Information: Your chosen display name and avatar selection. This is stored locally on your device.
• Gratitude Posts: The text content you write. Private posts are stored only on your device. Public posts are synced to our servers so they can appear in the community feed.
• Email Address: If you optionally provide your email during onboarding, we store it to send you updates about the app. This is entirely optional.
• Country: If you choose to select your country, this is displayed alongside public posts. This is optional.

How We Use Your Information

• To display your public gratitude posts in the community feed
• To send you occasional updates if you opted in with your email
• To moderate content and keep the community safe
• To improve the app experience

Content Moderation

Public posts are checked by an automated moderation system (powered by OpenAI) to ensure they meet our community guidelines. This is solely to prevent harmful content — we do not use your posts for any other AI training or purposes.

Data Storage

• Local Data: Your private posts, profile, and preferences are stored on your device using local storage. We do not have access to this data.
• Server Data: Public posts, flagged content reports, and optionally provided emails are stored on our secure servers.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. We do not run advertisements. The only third-party service that processes any of your data is OpenAI, strictly for content moderation of public posts.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete your account and all associated data at any time (see below)
• Keep your posts private so they never leave your device
• Choose not to provide your email
• Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children's Privacy

Alhamdulillah is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Acceptance

By downloading, installing, or using Alhamdulillah, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

What the App Does

Alhamdulillah is a free gratitude journaling app. You can write private gratitude entries, share them publicly with the community, and browse a feed of gratitude posts from Muslims around the world.

Your Responsibilities

• You must not post content that is offensive, hateful, threatening, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful
• You must not spam, harass, or bully other users
• You must not impersonate others or post misleading information
• You must not attempt to disrupt or compromise the app's infrastructure

Content Guidelines

Public posts are moderated automatically. Posts that violate our guidelines may be removed without notice. Repeated violations may result in being blocked from posting publicly.

Reporting

If you see a post that violates our guidelines, you can report it directly within the app. Our team reviews all reports.

Intellectual Property

The Alhamdulillah app, its design, and branding are our intellectual property. Your gratitude posts remain yours — by sharing them publicly, you grant us a licence to display them in the community feed.

Disclaimer

Alhamdulillah is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app. We may update, modify, or discontinue the app at any time.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Delete Your Account & Data

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Here's how:

Option 1: Delete from within the app

This will erase all your local data (posts, profile, preferences) from your device immediately.

Option 2: Request deletion via email

If you want us to also delete any data stored on our servers (public posts, your email if provided), send an email to:

Include the name or email you used in the app. We will process your request and delete all server-side data within 30 days.

What gets deleted

• All your public posts from the community feed
• Your email address (if you provided one)
• Any flagged post reports associated with your content
• All local data on your device (posts, profile, preferences)
